Romans 8:28.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
That doesn’t mean that everything will always seem good, but that it will work together for good. Sometimes things will seem bad, like discipline, but it’s for our good.
The reason God disciplines us is because He loves us.
Hebrews 12:7-8.
Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline — which all receive — then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
And all you parents can can think about that as well.
So there’s a lot of kids in here who would want candy and cake for breakfast. Is that good for you, or is that bad for you?
It’s gonna be good in the moment, but in the long run, that’s not gonna work out very well. So believe it or not, the reason your parents don’t let you have candy for breakfast is because they love you.
The Bible says that it rains on the just and the unjust. So I think about that often.
We actually sometimes we can see rain as like depression or like a curse, but in the ancient world, it would have been a blessing.
Right? So blessings fall on the just and the unjust.
So rest in the love and goodness of God.
