Reaching Nokomis…and the World
Being located in Nokomis, the focus of our church is to reach the people of Nokomis with the gospel. It’s only natural for us to make Nokomis our focus, since Nokomis is our base of operations, if you will.
Nokomis is where we serve. It’s where we volunteer and partner with other churches at Nokomis Christian Missions. It’s where we put on our Vacation Bible School and where we worship together.
That being said, many of the people of Grace Baptist are from outside of Nokomis. They’re from Witt, and Irving, and Fillmore, and Rosamond, and Pana. And we certainly welcome them and love them! And we welcome others from other communities as well! Because they help us to reach out to other towns, too.
Each person or family of Grace Baptist, whether they live in Nokomis or in another town, represents our church and represents Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:8 tells us that since we have the Holy Spirit, we have power to be Christ’s witnesses to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Nokomis is our Jerusalem, but we cannot neglect to share the gospel with other places. So we hope to be a witness not only to Nokomis, but to Witt, and to Irving. To Coalton, and to Owaneco. To Rosamond, to Pana, and to Fillmore.
And ultimately, we want to be witnesses to the state of Illinois, to our nation, and to our world.
God has given us grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and we want the whole world to hear the good news.
