Most of the time at Christmas, we focus on the fact that Jesus came. We look at the story of His birth and we’re reminded of the events that took place. And those are all important details to remember. But I want to focus this Sunday not on the facts of how Jesus came, but why He came.
What was Jesus’s ultimate purpose in coming, and living, and dying?
“And Jesus answered them, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified… Father, glorify your name.‘ Then a voice came from heaven: ‘I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.'” (John 12:23, 28)
Jesus came to glorify God. It was His purpose, and it ought to be our purpose as well.
