About Us

Grace Baptist Church is a small, family-oriented congregation in Nokomis, Illinois. We’re made up of people of all ages who have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior. We’re not perfect people, but we strive to please God in everything we do.

Our desire is to love God and love the people around us. Since God has shown us His love, we want to show that love to others, too.

We welcome people of all walks in life – raised in church or not. Casual dress is typically worn and the atmosphere is laid back, so come in whatever you have to wear and you’ll fit right in. No suit, tie or dress clothes required. In fact, if you wear a tie, you’ll probably be the only one. But if that’s what makes you feel comfortable, that’s okay, too.

Our church family is quite diverse; some wear khakis and a polo while others wear shorts and a t-shirt.

Services & Weekly Schedule

Sunday School @ 9:30 am: Sunday School is classroom time where each age group studies the Bible on their level. Hands on activities are done with children, discussions are held with youth and adults. Register for a class online, or just show up.

Sunday morning @ 10:30 am: This service includes both contemporary and traditional worship music, followed by a message from God’s Word. The service will generally dismiss around 11:45 am. During the service, we offer Children’s Church (for children 5 years old through 4th grade), and Nursery (for babies through 4 years old) so that both you and your children may encounter God in a way that is relevant to you.

Sunday evening @ 6:30 pm: This service is generally more brief than our Sunday morning service. We gather together to sing two or three hymns, and hear another message from God’s Word on the same topic as the morning message. We’re then challenged to put these messages into action.

Wednesday evening @ 7:00 pm: Our midweek prayer meeting begins with a song or two which direct us to focus on speaking with God. We next share prayer requests and spend time in prayer. Then we conclude with Bible study and discussion in order to sharpen our minds and encourage our hearts.

Our Pastor

Pastor Chris Huff has been with us since July 2009. He and his wife, Abby, have three small, adorable children. Chris is originally from St. Louis, MO and even though he was raised as a city boy, he has a small town heart.

Chris is internet savvy so you can find him on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, read his family’s blog at chrisandabby.com, and his pastoral blog at pastorhuff.com. If you’d like to hear Chris preach, you can listen to his sermons online. A new sermon from Sunday’s morning service is posted every week.

If you have a need or question and would like to speak with Pastor Chris, feel free to contact him through the website.
